Descriere autovehicul
Model history
Ferrari had been doing well through the 1950s with the 250 series of road and racing cars. The company’s most successful early line, the 250 series included many variants and are characterized by their use of the Lampredi or Colombo designed 3 liter V12 engine.
Launched in Paris in 1958, the 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe replaced the Boano/Ellena model. It is considered to be one of the first real series produced Ferrari’s. A total of 351 examples were built of which 151 cars as a series II. From 1960, it was brought up to date by the addition of disc brakes and new designed engines with outside located spark plugs.
With its timeless and elegant design, the Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe was one of the most desirable cars of its time..
This example
This superb Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Series II is a very special and original car. It is the latest type of 508F chassis’ and the latest engine development of the Tipo 128F V12 engine.
The car was ordered new by United States Air Force Captain John C. Malone in Februari 1960. Mr. J.C. Malone was stationed in Tokyo at the time. In March 1960, the car was shipped directly from Italy to Yokohama, making it the very first Ferrari imported into Japan! This arrival created quite a stir, Prancing Horse wrote that stories about the car were published in the Yokohama and Tokyo newspapers. When Mr. J.C. Malone moved back to the USA, the car was shipped to the USA. The Air Force Captain enjoyed driving it around Denver, Colorado. Around this time, the car was painted white and the original leather interior was changed to black.
Mr. J.C. Malone would finally keep the car an impressive 40 years until he sold the car in 2000 at the age of 80. The car had only 43.000 miles and was described as a ‘time-capsule-car’. The car was then owned by Mr. J. Heumann from San Francisco, California and later he sold to car to Mr. M. Vittoz from Lyon, France.
In 2009 the car was exported to The Netherlands and then sold by Lukas Huni to the current collector in late 2012. In the current collection – one of the most important Dutch Ferrari collections – it has been well maintained This lovely 250 GT is in very nice condition with nice older paintwork with few blemishes and excellent original panel fit. Chrome is excellent. The interior feels very fresh with a high quality retrim. The engine bay is well detailed and as expected very original. In October 2022, a major service was done at Dutch Ferrari Specialists. The invoice totals Euro 10.500,-. Afterwards the car was driven in the Zoute Rally in Belgium. The car runs very well and is a pleasure to drive. The engine pulls strong and the gear change is very smooth.
All numbers have been confirmed by Ferrari to be original and matching. The car is registered in Holland and has a most distinguished two-tone colour combination of ‘Grigio Platino’ (original colour) with an anthracite grey roof and a dark red leather interior.
After 12 years in the current collection the car is ready for a new enthusiastic owner and begs to be driven.
The price is Euro 475.000.
