Dit exemplaar is uitvoerig gerestaureerd tussen 1998 en 2012 en werd al die tijd gekoesterd door dezelfde eigenaar sinds 1998. Tijdens de restauratie is de 2.2 liter zes-in-lijn motor volledig gereviseerd, is de auto gedemonteerd en werd een nieuwe kabelboom geplaatst. Alle werkzaamheden zijn gedocumenteerd; een fotoreportage en facturen zijn aanwezig. Daarmee biedt deze Ponton niet alleen klassieke charme, maar ook een aantoonbaar solide technische basis.

Het uiterlijk is uitgevoerd in zwart lakwerk dat in 2004 opnieuw is aangebracht, met enkele lichte imperfecties die passen bij een auto van deze leeftijd. De combinatie met de whitewalls, originele wieldoppen en het klassieke schuifdak geeft de auto een tijdloze, luxe uitstraling. Het interieur is vernieuwd: rode bekleding, fraai gerestaureerd houtwerk inclusief dashboard en een nieuwe hemel creëren een warm, stijlvol samenspel met de donkere carrosserie. The 1959 Mercedes-Benz 220 S Ponton you see here is one of the most elegant and beloved models from the post-war Mercedes line. This example was extensively restored between 1998 and 2012 and has been cherished by the same owner since 1998. During the restoration, the 2.2-liter inline-six engine was completely overhauled, the car was disassembled, and a new wiring harness was installed. All work is documented; a photo report and invoices are available. This Ponton offers not only classic charm but also a demonstrably solid technical foundation.

The exterior features black paintwork that was repainted in 2004, with a few minor imperfections befitting a car of this age. The combination with the whitewalls, original hubcaps, and classic sliding roof gives the car a timeless, luxurious appearance. The interior has been updated: red upholstery, beautifully restored woodwork including the dashboard, and a new headliner create a warm, stylish interplay with the dark bodywork. This 220 S Ponton is a particularly beautiful example, both visually and technically, built with great love and care.
